Bridging the gap between reflective learning and reflective practice through anticipatory reflection

Purpose This paper aims to analyse student perspectives on the contribution that teaching anticipatory reflection can make development of their reflective practice. The project explores lived experiences and value students attribute these in helping them bridge transfer gap between learning Design/methodology/approach An interpretivist approach is taken whereby reflections students' practicing a workshop setting were analysed using template analysis understand attributed these. Students guided through series exercises including visualisation future events nature practice as well writing. Findings identified multiple benefits being taught practising reflection. Specifically, high levels realism, personal relevance engagement reported, increased confidence, self-efficacy self-belief.
